This is official notification that USD #364 Marysville is seeking applications for an opening in the following position for the 2024-2025 school year:

 

                          Director of Special Education Cooperative


Job Goal: To provide leadership and special educational services within the Marshall County
Special Services Cooperative. The Marshall County Special Services Cooperative is sponsored by USD
#364 – Marysville and also includes USD #498 – Valley Heights.


Essential Functions:
• Determine the general direction of the special education cooperative by conducting needs
assessments on an annual basis
• Provide leadership, support, and resources to all special education staff and general education
staff to ensure that they have sufficient knowledge and training to serve all students who are
eligible for special education services or who are being considered for special education services
• Work directly with building and district administration to determine staffing needs and to
participate in the recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of special education personnel
both certified and classified
• Work directly with building and district administration to ensure that the services provided to
special education students within the Cooperative meet state and federal requirements
• Be an advocate for all special education students while remaining focused on the goals of the
both districts in the Cooperative
• Build and maintain the best possible relationships with parents and the general public that
balance the needs of each student along with the goals of the districts in the Cooperative
• Ensure that all reports required by state and federal agencies for the special education
cooperative are completed accurately and submitted on time
• Assist in the development and monitoring of the Cooperative Special Education Budget to
ensure fiscal responsibility
• Approve all requisitions and expenditures that come from the Cooperative Special Education
Budget
• Serve on the Administrative Councils of both districts in the Cooperative
• Represent the Cooperative at local, state, and regional levels
• Be professionally active in the Special Education Community
• Make regular reports to the Cooperative Advisory Board and to both Boards of Education
throughout the school year


Qualifications:
• Meet the employment qualifications set forth by USD #364, the Kansas State Board of
Education, and the Kansas Department of Education
• Hold, be eligible, or be willing to pursue Kansas certification appropriate for the position
• Master’s Degree in Special Education or School Administration
• Prior experience as a special education teacher or as an administrator in a school or school
district
• Knowledge of Kansas and federal special education laws and regulations
• Knowledge of and experience with school finance and budgets
• Knowledge of special education and special education services
• Excellent interpersonal skills, professional judgment, oral and written communication
